The film inspired us and made us believe that it is worthwhile to fight for what we believe in and that our voice counts as much as anyone else\u2019s. We bestow the KinoKino Award to the film with the most interesting theme, wonderful editing and acting \u2013\u00a0<em>Block 5<\/em>\u00a0directed by Klemen Dvornik.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>TOGETHER AGAIN<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nJury: Andrej Korovljev, Hrvoje Osvadi\u0107 and Klara \u0160ovagovi\u0107<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Golden Bicycle for Best Film in the Together Again program<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/santosh\/\">Santosh<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Directed by<strong>\u00a0Sandhya Suri<\/strong><br \/>\nUnited Kingdom, Denmark, India, France<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe bestow the Golden Bicycle Award to a film that pushes the boundaries of the genre by using the documentarist approach in shaping the story without a typical cinematic hero. The film does not condemn, but calls for an understanding of a world where there are no simple answers, where justice and truth become relative concepts, lost in the complexity of social relations. The authentic story and the director\u2019s original imprint have left a deep impression on us, which is why we have chosen to give this award to the film\u00a0<em>Santosh<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>PLUS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Young Jury: Ema Fabian, Jelena Juri\u0107 and Marta Petrakovi\u0107<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>PLUS award for Best Film by the Young Jury<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/how-to-make-millions-before-grandma-dies\/\">How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies<\/a><br \/>\nDirected by<strong>\u00a0Pat Boonnitipat<br \/>\n<\/strong>Thailand<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a film that stood out the most for its superb cast, visual appeal and interesting depiction of culture. With its heartfelt story that leaves no one indifferent, the film contextualises us, as young people, in the world of transience. At times humorous, extremely warm, and always natural. Even though we cried watching it, we cannot hold anything against it.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM AND CHECKERS<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>International Short Film and Checkers Jury: David Ga\u0161o, Yulia Serdyukova and Daniel Soares<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>European Short Film Candidate \u2013 Prix Vimeo European Film Awards 2026<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/the-idea-of-an-island\/\"><strong>The Idea of an Island<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nDirected by\u00a0<strong>Carmen Pedrero<br \/>\n<\/strong>Spain<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inescapable fascination with violence and death, brought by the brutality of war.\u00a0The innocent ability to find joy and playfulness in the darkest of times, among ruins and fear.\u00a0Children do these two things better than adults, and the film picks it up with a childlike energy and honesty, offering the audience a multilayered take on humanity\u2019s extremes. The line between game and threat is unclear here, and the director creates a patient, trustful and beautiful space for us to join this tasteful cinematic exploration. The EFA candidate nominated by Zagreb Film Festival is\u00a0<em>The Idea of an Island<\/em>\u00a0by Carmen Pedrero.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><u>Golden Pram for Best Short Film<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/the-stag\/\">The Stag<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Directed by<strong>\u00a0An Chu<br \/>\n<\/strong>Taiwan<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA film where theme, craft and vision come together in an outstanding mark of filmic achievement. This film blew our minds from the first to the last frame. It questions the role of fatherhood and male behavior in general. What is ultimately more powerful and nurturing? Show-offish strength or vulnerability and care? We are unanimous and very happy to award the Golden Pram for Best International Film to An Chu and all of his crew and very excited about what they will do next.\u201d<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><u><\/u><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><u><strong>Golden Pram for Best Croatian Film in the Checkers Program<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/spot\/\">Spot<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Directed by<strong>\u00a0Sara Alavani\u0107<br \/>\n<\/strong>Croatia<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis unconventionally structured film brimming with ambitious ideas stands out primarily for its unique poetic approach, but also for a convincing insight into the social milieu barely explored in Croatian films. This film is a perfectly executed director\u2019s vision observable through cooperation with actors, impressionistic editing and art department interventions with regard for detail, all which make this world tangible and exciting. Please join us in applauding\u00a0<em>Drowning Dry<\/em>\u00a0by Laurynas Bareisa.<\/p>\n<p>The main film prize goes to a mature, measured and finely calibrated feature debut that showcases incredible command of tone, structure and pacing. The psychological drama and inner tension are handled beautifully, with stylistic touches and repetition that build slowly on the character\u2019s inner turmoil with impressive restraint and complexity.
